St Paul's Steiner

Teaching through head, heart and hands

book an open tour

St Paul’s Steiner School provides a dynamic education that supports the development of well-rounded human beings who are resourceful, creative, responsible and curious.

Housed in a beautiful Grade II* listed building in Islington, St Paul’s is an independent, non-selective and non-denominational school for children aged 3-14 years old. We aim to prepare children to meet the challenges of the 21st century, and to develop the problem-solving skills required for a sustainable future, through an education that connects with them in an inspiring and practical way. In this digital age, when facts are so easily accessed, it is creativity, imagination and intuition that set us apart - and this is at the heart of everything we do.

  • As part of their food and farming block, Class III spent the day wheat weaving with @laura_bakes_bread. Wheat weaving is a craft deeply rooted in Britains pastoral heritage, encapsulating the art of transforming simple strands into intricate masterpieces. The children learnt the traditional art of plaiting wheat and creating different objects, with Laura who is fully engaged in reviving these local British art forms. They learnt the alchemy of nature and nimble fingers, and the varied, wonderful pleasures that golden wheat can give us, from bread to woven trinkets! #wheat #wheatweaving #weaving #traditionalcraft #traditionalart #craft #futureofcraft #craftsmanship #traditionalartist #crafts #artsandcrafts #crafty #wheatstraw #wheatsheaf #art #artist #wearewaldorf #waldorfeducation #waldorf

  • Class VII have started their Africa main lesson block by rendering diverse North East African landscapes in chalk pastel. The class embraced this medium and allowed themselves to overcome their instinct to be too detailed and controlled. We explored colour perspective, blending, texture and light and shade. The class explored the different tones in the blues, browns and greens of them landscapes. They were pleased with the results and the way pastels can create an atmosphere and feeling of a place. #africa #chalkpastel #chalkpastels #pastel #pasteldrawing #pasteldrawings #chalk #art #schoolart #schoolartwork #landscape #landscapeart #wearewaldorf #waldorf #waldorfeducation #waldorfteacher #teacher #creativeeducation #creative
